D&J Franks Renewables is one of County Durham’s oldest established plumbing and heating companies. Over the past few years the company has expanded into the Biomass heating sector, successfully growing the business and creating new jobs. The family owned business was established over 30 years ago and currently supplies renewable energy services across the North East, specialising in biomass and air/ground heat source renewable heating solutions.
Biomass heating systems, which use wood-based fuel e.g. wood pellets, chips or logs, can provide warmth for a single room or to power a central heating system and hot water boilers.
Biomass can provide average rates of return of around 20-40% and a saving of up to 50% on fuel bills, both on commercial and domestic heating, with and average payback time of five to seven years.
